Care.data is an initative of the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) http://www.hscic.gov.uk/, a new body with the role of “collecting, analysing and presenting national health and social care data” with the aim of planning and monitoring services. This data will be shared with other public and private organisations. However, the key issue has been the lack of processes for ensuring the confidentiality of the data.
A new clause a new clause in a bill on social care will give the Health secretary powers to fast-track the closure of local hospitals with little public consultation.
